Not really able to pick a favorite, as there quite a few good posts and no clear &#8220;winner&#8221;. Anyway, here we go.<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Jnan Dash&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/rdbms-vs-nosql-how-do-you-pick-7000020803\/\">RDBMS vs. NoSQL: How do you pick?<\/a> brings back the issue of choosing between RDMBS and NoSQL technologies. It provides some insightful advice on making such a choice. It covers relevant issues to consider, from the nature of data, to operational issues like performance, scale or availability. Although a brief article, it covers the most relevant criteria to consider when making such a choice and it is a very interesting read.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Continuing with NoSQL \/ Big Data articles, Chris Stucchio&#8217;s <a href=\"Don't use Hadoop - your data isn't that big\">Don&#8217;t use Hadoop -your data is not that big<\/a>\u00a0is a witty article on how &#8220;hot&#8221; keywords can cloud anyone&#8217;s decision making. It analyses a few scenarios where using Hadoop doesn&#8217;t make much sense, even if you would be led to think otherwise, due to Hadoop&#8217;s increasing popularity.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>J.D. Meier&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/s.msdn.com\/b\/jmeier\/archive\/2013\/09\/15\/cloud-scenarios-at-your-fingertips.aspx\">Cloud Scenarios at your fingertips<\/a>\u00a0provides a few decision making points and links to further readings, on the subject of evaluating Cloud Computing as a viable option to be considered for enterprises.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Moving to SQL Server performance related articles, The SQL Server Customer Advisory Team blog post <a href=\"http:\/s.msdn.com\/b\/sqlcat\/archive\/2013\/09\/09\/when-to-break-down-complex-queries.aspx\">When To Break Down Complex Queries<\/a>\u00a0provides a few anti-patterns to watch when writing queries, with suggestions to solve the associated performance issues. It&#8217;s a very interesting article.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Marcus Winand&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/use-the-index-luke.com\/sql\/myth-directory\/dynamic-sql-is-slow\">Myth: Dynamic SQL is Slow<\/a> debunks the myth that dynamic SQL is slow, unless you do it wrong, of course.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Grant Fritchey&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scarydba.com\/2013\/09\/16\/why-the-lazy-spool-is-bad\/\">Why the Lazy Spool is Bad<\/a>\u00a0analyzes the lazy spool operator, concluding that it is not bad, after all, and includes links to more information on spools.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Danny Dover&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/moz.com\/the-web-developers-seo-cheat-sheet-2013-edition\">The Web Developer&#8217;s SEO Cheat Sheet 2.0<\/a>\u00a0is a very comprehensive SEO cheat sheet, that can be downloaded as a very useful PDF file to keep within easy reach, as it can be very, very useful.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Anders Andersen &amp; Tobias J\u00e4rlund&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/mobile.smashingmagazine.com\/2013\/09\/16\/responsive-images-performance-problem-case-study\/\">Addressing The Responsive Images Performance Problem: A Case Study<\/a> is a very well written and interesting article that provides a solution they developed to eliminate performance issues when serving images to mobile devices. A must read.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>The Visual Studio Developer Center <a href=\"http:\/\/msdn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/vstudio\/hh487283\">.NET Framework SDKs and Targeting Packs for Visual Studio 2012<\/a>\u00a0provides a useful list of resources related to Visual Studio and .Net Framework.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Cathy Sullivan&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/s.msdn.com\/b\/visualstudio\/archive\/2013\/09\/16\/notifications-in-visual-studio-2013.aspx\">Notifications in Visual Studio 2013<\/a>\u00a0provides a good overview on Visual Studio 2013 notifications features.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Bruce Schneier&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schneier.com\/archives\/2013\/09\/how_to_remain_s.html\">How to Remain Secure Against the NSA<\/a>\u00a0provides a detailed description of several strategies that anyone can use to foil the NSA&#8217;s eavesdropping abilities.
